Hi Mamas!

My name is Kowhai Buchanan, and I live in North New Brighton, Christchurch NZ, with my partner Adam and 3yr old daughter, Nyah (above). I am a qualified personal trainer, where I obtained my level 3 & 4 in Fitness at the Australian Institute of Fitness.

I created the Fitt Mum Project to help other Mums become the best version of themselves through health & fitness!

I’ve been on my own health and fitness journey for over 10 years now. It takes time to change your lifestyle and become the best version of you, but when you get to a point where health & fitness is a part of life for good, it’s well worth it!

While I was at university I put on a decent amount of weight (10-15kg), and after this time (and being told I was a ‘big girl’) I ended up trying multiple diets, quick fixes, fads, you name it, to get rid of the weight! NONE of them worked. Not long term anyway. I lost the weight, put it back on, plus some, and my metabolism was shot to boot.

Somewhere along the way I joined a transformation programme that consisted of eating ‘real’ food, consistent exercise, and surrounding myself with a good support network. This programme completely changed my life! My relationship with food completely changed, I learnt about resistance training, and I walked away with the knowledge to continue with my new lifestyle. I also got into awesome shape!

Fast forward a couple of years and I was inspired to become a PT and help others on their own health & fitness journeys!

During my pregnancy I put on 20kg. It was tough losing the weight once Nyah was born, due to lack of sleep, sickness, and well, being a Mum! (as I’m sure you can relate!). It’s not easy – especially with kids in the mix, but when you have the right support, resources, and determination, you can achieve anything you set your mind to!

I have learnt so much throughout my own health and fitness journey, and I know how hard it can be to reach your goals. That is why I have created The Fitt Mum Project – to help Mums like you not only achieve long term results, but to help you become the BEST version of you!
